Portland’s catch phrase is “Keep Portland Weird”, and they are doing a wonderful job. The city “is a beer lover’s paradise. Often referred to as “Beervana” or “Beertown,” the city boasts a collection of production breweries and brewpubs totaling a whopping 31 — more breweries per capita than any other city in the world.” – Gadling  In the WORLD!

In addition their transportation system has won awards, the streets are incredibly cyclist friendly, and citizens swear they have the most strip clubs AND the most book stores per capita in America.

So the city as a whole.. loves to drink beer, read books, ride bikes, and check out a strip club every now and then. Not to mention the surplus of amazing live musical acts that they can choose from any night of the week. Definitely DEFINITELY going back to Portland some day. I highly recommend you all do the same.

I Couchsurfed in the Belmont district at a lovely household with four friendly roomates, who each individually took time out of their busy schedules to make me feel welcome. Couchsurfing is always a leap of faith, and I haven’t had a bad experience yet! Although sometimes the money you save on accommodation.. just ends up going straight to beer to share with new friends. A dangerous side effect.
